Waterfront Place

A Planning application for the development of Waterfront Place has been approved. The full documents can be viewed on Dundee City Council's online planning portal using reference 18/00124/FULL

Waterfront Place is to be constructed at the edge of the River Tay. This extension to the popular Slessor Gardens is expected to commence construction in 2018 with a view to being made available for use towards the end of 2019. The site is currently in use as a construction yard serving the work at the new V&A Dundee.

The design identifies a landscaped area complete with an urban beach and boardwalk overlooking the River Tay. Raised landscaped mounds echo the coastal geography of dunes: providing shelter from the sea breeze and a location for a potential cafe facility built into the earth mound as well as informal areas to relax or to host smaller scale outdoor events.

Routes through the site allow for ease of pedestrian access and also cater for cyclists using the National Cycle Network and Dundee's Green Circular cycleway.
